Implementation of the project “Waste - a resource to be utilized” continued

Secretariat for Communal Affairs of the Capital, in cooperation with the company "Medix" llc Podgorica continued the implementation of the project "Waste - a resource to be utilized". The aim of the project is to raise environmental awareness of citizens by pointing out the importance of waste selection and recycling.

In the period from October 12 to November 7, educational lectures were held in primary and secondary schools: Elementary School "Savo Kazić" in Barutani, Elementary School "Đoko Prelević" in Ubli, Elementary School "18 Oktobar" in Bioče, as well as in the Public High School ”Slobodan Škerović”, Secondary School “Spasoje Raspopović”, Secondary School of Economics “Mirko Vešović”, elementary schools “Štampar Makarije”, “Savo Pejanović”, “Milan Vukotić” and “Maksim Gorki”.

In educational lectures through presentations and interactive classes, students are introduced to the importance of selective collection of municipal waste, i.e. primary selection of waste at the place of origin, activities undertaken by the Capital on the implementation of primary selection, locations and manner of use of containers for primary selection of waste, recycling yards and conditions that we should respect through valid decisions as citizens.

The target group of the project are school-age children. In order to achieve positive changes in avoiding the generation and reducing the amount of waste, it is of great importance to educate primarily children, both on waste control and on the benefits and importance of waste selection at the place of origin - primary selection.

The emphasis of the education is placed on the primary selection, i.e. separation of waste into "dry" and "wet" fraction of municipal waste, at the source, in order to prepare as much recyclable material from waste (paper, metal, plastic, glass, etc.) for reuse and recycling, and as little waste as possible to be disposed in landfills.

Educational lectures in the Capital are planned to be held in ten schools in urban and suburban areas and five schools in rural areas and will be realized in the coming period in accordance with the epidemiological situation and in compliance with the current measures.
