Primary waste selection project presented to students of several schools in Podgorica

Secretariat for Communal Affairs of the Capital, in cooperation with the company "Medix" llc Podgorica, continued the implementation of the project "Waste - a resource to be utilized".

The aim of the project is to raise the environmental awareness of citizens by pointing out the importance of waste selection and recycling. In this regard, in the previous week, educational presentations were held to primary school students of: "Vlado Milić", "Vuk Karadžić", "Božidar Vuković Podgoričanin" and PI "Srednja mješovita škola Golubovci".  The emphasis of the education is placed on the primary selection, i.e. separation of waste into "dry" and "wet" fraction of municipal waste, at the source of origin, in order to prepare as much recyclable material from waste (paper, metal, plastic, glass, etc.) for re-use and recycling, and as little waste as possible to be disposed of in the landfill and thus enable the extended duration of the municipal waste landfill.

Educational lectures in Podgorica are planned to be held in ten schools in urban and suburban areas, as well as five schools in rural areas, and are realized in accordance with the epidemiological situation and in compliance with current measures.
