New social service of the Capital city presented: City Senior Card will provide numerable benefits to pensioners and elderly citizens of Podgorica

The Capital, through the Secretariat for Social Welfare, has launched a new social service City Senior Card, which is intended for pensioners and fellow citizens over 65 years of age. The budget of the Capital for 2020 has allocated EUR 50,000 for this purpose, and the partner of the City in this project is Montenegrin Telekom. Card users will have a very diverse offer of products and services, starting from food, white goods, clothing, all the way to private hospitals, pharmacies and clinics, and the agreed discounts for one-time payments range up to 25%.

On that occasion, Mayor Ivan Vuković, PhD, proudly pointed out that the city administration continuously pays special attention to members of the retired population, of which there are about 35,000 in the capital, and handed over the city's first senior card.

"We respect the merit of that generation for building our society and our state, and we are trying to adequately reciprocate them in various ways. For years, the city administration has been trying to provide conditions for improving the material status and social position of members of this population. There were a lot of projects that we promoted, and certainly the most important project is the construction of three residential buildings for members of this population", Vuković pointed out, reminding that the Capital has given a plot for the construction of the fourth building for pensioners for those purposes, and that the construction of another facility should start next year. In that way, after resolving the housing issue for 288 of our pensioners, about 70 of them from the territory of the capital will have the opportunity to resolve this important issue.

The Mayor pointed out a number of initiatives and activities launched in the previous period, and expressed special satisfaction with the presentation of a new project - City Senior Card, which will provide users with significant discounts when shopping in retail stores, health care institutions and thus directly benefit to their status.

"We are talking about a card that enables discounts on one-time payments, there have been similar projects before, but this is something new, a project that cost the city administration EUR 50,000. It is planned to make 20,000 cards in the first iteration, intended not only for pensioners, but for all residents of the capital who are over 65, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partner Montenegrin Telekom for the realization of this project. They also helped us to create a software solution, and then to come up with the final product that provides numerous benefits for this population. We are satisfied because of that and we are grateful to them for the trust they have in the Capital, and we will try to justify that trust in the next period as well", Vuković concluded.

Svetomir Stamatović, pensioner, expressed satisfaction with the work of the city administration headed by Mayor Vuković and pointed out that this is a continuous support to pensioners of Podgorica by the Capital, which will contribute to a better financial position of all third age adults. He thanked the city administration for launching another very important social service and expressed his belief that there will be such and similar projects in the next period as well.

At the moment, contracts are being signed with sellers and service providers, and the implementation of this project will start at the beginning of next year, when all pensioners and senior citizens will be informed and invited to take over the City Senior Card and start practicing agreed discounts with our partners.
