17/12/2020Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Capital has prepared a rich sports program in anticipation of the celebration of the Liberation Day of Podgorica - December 19.
Assistant Secretary for Culture and Sports Milos Antic emphasized that this year's edition of sports events on the eve of December 19 will be somewhat different because it is conditioned by the current epidemiological situation, but that it will have an emphasized humanitarian character.
"December is the month of our city, and sport being a trademark of Podgorica is why we decided to celebrate the birthday through various sports activities. As part of the celebration of the Liberation Day of Podgorica, the Secretariat for Culture and Sports in cooperation with clubs will organize a large number of sports events in the next few days, of course, with maximum respect to the current measures", Antić said, adding that he will support the program of Special Olympics this year as well.
This year, the Secretariat for Culture and Sports has allocated EUR 10,000 for humanitarian actions, EUR 2,500 each to the Resource Center for Children and Youth of Podgorica, Resource Center “1. Jun” and to Komanski Most Institute and the Institute for Children's Diseases”.
Sports program in the following days:
• Thursday - "triagonal" opens - a mini football tournament organized by FC Karioke. Venue - balloon "Vukčević" in Vojislavljevića Street.
• Friday is reserved for the 63rd edition of the oldest sports event - the athletics race of the Liberation of Podgorica, named after the legendary Veliša Mugoša
• Saturday is a day for riding on two wheels - in cooperation with BK Džada, a bicycle tour will be held on new trails through our city. Departure is at 11 a.m. from Independence Square (Trg Nezavisnosti).
• Karate has long been one of the protective symbols of the capital, and BC Budućnost is once again organizing the traditional Cup of Liberation of Podgorica, which will be held on Sunday at the Sports Center "Morača".
• In cooperation with the Chess Club "7. Oktobar" on Monday we will organize a chess tournament for children from six (6) to eleven (11) years old on new open boards at several locations in the Capital.
