The best students of Podgorica for 2020 awarded

Today, the Mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, PhD, traditionally awarded the Student Awards of the Capital - Podgorica for 2020 for the 35 best students. On that occasion, the mayor pointed out that every celebration on December 19, even this year's, which takes place in very specific circumstances, is extremely beautiful and significant, and that it is an opportunity to repay a number of people who indebted the Capital, or marked its development in the past period. However, showing great respect for everyone, the mayor pointed out the students as especially important.

"I am absolutely convinced that in all societies, in all countries, at all times, knowledge is the most valuable resource. If we look at this year that we are slowly leaving behind - it was difficult, it was challenging, turbulent, but as such it gave birth to some good things. It seems to me that, all together, we have become a little smarter, a little more modest, possibly more humane, more solidary, but also one of the messages that this difficult time brings with it is the message about the importance of knowledge. The whole world is currently waiting to see what the results of scientific research will look like in practice in terms of finding a vaccine that should provide an answer to the current coronavirus pandemic. I say, even though we have lost so many people in Montenegro and globally, that message is actually a message that is essential and a message of optimism that means faith in human reason and abilities of all of us", Vuković pointed out.

"This year is especially important this year and that is why I would ask you not to forget it in the years ahead, because the future of the human race, if you will, of our civilization, in any case the future of Montenegro will predominantly depend on the extent we manage to build society on the principles of knowledge. Knowledge is a value that never devalues, knowledge lasts forever and you are people who are recognized for understanding this message better than others in your generation and it is something that binds you, not only today, but also in the years ahead, especially if we keep in mind that, apart from the mentioned pandemic, Montenegro has been facing a serious challenge of lack of knowledge for some time due, in part, to people like you leaving Montenegro in greater numbers than any of us would like. We will succeed in building Montenegro as a happy and prosperous society and our city will be as it should be dominant thanks to the fact that you will continue to move on the path of knowledge and that you will remain to live in Podgorica and Montenegro. Don't forget that message. There is a huge responsibility on you and in that sense, I congratulate you once again on the fact that this difficult time has not made you forget what the real values and priorities are individually and the priorities of our society", Vuković concluded.

President of the Commission for the Student Award of the Capital - Podgorica for 2020 prof. Dr Đurđica Perović shared with those present a sense of honor that she was a team that participated in assessing the achievements and results of exceptional young people. "Today we celebrate the Day of the Liberation of Podgorica and pay tribute to knowledge. Knowledge and education have been talked about by many throughout the course of human civilization. We know that knowledge is power, we know that education is what you are left with when we forget everything we learned in school, we know that knowledge is the golden key to freedom. Human duration teaches us that we are lost without knowledge. Therefore, I deeply believe that it is extremely important for a young man to be motivated, to notice his work, to praise him, to tell young people how good they are and that we are proud of them and help them gain self-confidence. Today, we are here to tell them all that", Perović pointed out and congratulated all the winners of the award on the exceptional results, wishing them to incorporate the acquired knowledge, skills and competencies into the future of our country and our city of Podgorica.

The awards were given to the following students: Aleksandra Govedarica, Savica Vujičić, Katarina Vukićević, Tina Velimirović, Milica Bojović, Almir Hadžimuhović, Teodora Tijanić, Anđela Čepić, Jovana Lekić, Nađa Raičević, Todor Mitrović, Minja Lalović, Amra Šabović, Vjera Kalezić, Andrea Vukčević, Rebeka Mehović, Matija Maksimović, Jelena Rakočević, Diko Jevremović, Admir Krnić, Maja Vujisić, Tijana Matović, Radmila Vukčević, Bojana Šolaja, Dubravka Tomčić, Lara Dragović, Milena Perović, Aleksandra Vukčević, Jelena Srdanović, Anđela Miličković, Danilo Pajović, Marko Milikić, Kristina Knežević, Luka Radunović i Sanja Sekulović.
