Vuković: Budget of the Capital of € 93.4 million for improving the quality of life in Podgorica

At today's session of the Assembly of the capital, the councilors discussed the Proposal of the decision on the Budget of the Capital for 2021, by which the receipts in the city treasury, together with the initial deposit are planned in the amount of € 93,457,000, which is 4.30 percent more compared to this year.


Own revenues are planned in the amount of € 48,915,000 and make up 52.34 percent of the total planned, assigned revenues are expected in the amount of € 14,226,000; 12,500,000 will be transferred from the previous year, while € 8,296,000 are planned from the loan . Transfers from the state budget are projected at € 100,000, and a donation of € 9,420,000 is expected, which relates exclusively to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant with threatening infrastructure.


When it comes to the expenditure side of the budget, € 36,531,000 will be allocated for current budget spending, € 5,990,000 for debt repayment, while 54.50 percent of revenues, I.e. € 50,936,000, will be invested in investments and development of the city.


During the discussion, the Mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, Ph.D., stated that this year we have a record realization of the budget in the last ten years, which, as he pointed out, surprised him. He concluded that Podgorica will continue to develop intensively in the next year, as well as that projects will be implemented that will significantly improve the quality of life of citizens.


In her address to the councilors, the Secretary of Finance, Snežana Popović, pointed out that, taking into account the uncertainty that awaits us due to the pandemic next year, all current expenditures were rationalized, and that priority was given to development in relation to current consumption.


Expenditures for local infrastructure are planned in the amount of € 37,718,800, € 1,607,500 will be set aside for construction facilities, € 10,024,200 for equipment, and € 1,585,500 for investment maintenance.


The biggest investments in the next year, in addition to the wastewater treatment plant, are the purchase of new buses worth EUR 5 million, and the Southwest Bypass, for which EUR 4.3 million are planned.
