"Stara varoš" gets the status it deserves: Numerous infrastructure projects are being realized, contest for support to entrepreneurs in this area is coming soon

Podgorica, the Capital, is intensively working on the promotion and revitalization of the Old Town (Stara Varoš), as the old city center and a significant part of the Capital. We are determined to give to this symbol of our city, which nurtures all those true, sincere values that have been inherited for centuries in this area, namely multiethnicity, multiconfessionalism and a harmonious relationship of all religions and nations, the status it deserves.

In accordance with that, the Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica announced a tender for the reconstruction of Predgrad and Keše Đurovića Streets, whose estimated value is € 235,000, and works on the reconstruction of the part of Gojko Radonjić Street, worth € 125,000, are underway.

The works on these roads include interventions in the part of traffic, then earthworks, road construction, traffic signalization, hydraulic installations, atmospheric sewerage, water supply, fecal sewerage, electrical installations and sewerage system. The same works will be performed in Sava Lubarde Street.

The construction of a pedestrian bridge is also planned, which will connect The Old Town with the part near the Sports Center Morača and will represent a unique link between the oldest core of the city and modern facilities on the other bank of the river.

In addition to infrastructure projects that will contribute to the revival of the Old Town, the Capital City has allocated € 50,000 in the budget for this year to support business ideas in the area of this urban settlement. The contest for the realization will be announced soon, and it will refer to all natural and legal persons with residence, i.e. headquarters on the territory of the Capital who want to start or develop their business in the area of Stara Varoš.

We would like to remind you that, in order to, among other things, further contribute to the revival of Stara Varoš, we have completely reconstructed the house of Risto Stijović, where now is a permanent sculpture exhibition, and thus we have enriched the cultural offer of Podgorica. Also, Braće Zlatičanina Street is paved with cobblestones in the spirit of the Old Town.
