186 illegal landfills in Podgorica removed thanks to Kasper app

Kasper app (Collective application for waste selection, collection and recycling) for Android and iOS devices, launched in early March 2020, provided citizens with the opportunity to report illegally disposed waste in the territory of Podgorica. So far, 245 applications have been received through this application, and currently only 6 locations that are in the process of preparation for cleaning have not been realized (uncleaned).

Namely, the teams of the city company Čistoća have so far cleaned 186 locations from the territory of the Capital, and a certain number of applications could not be realized for the following reasons: 21 reports related to waste disposed of on private property; 21 applications related to locations that are not in the territory of Podgorica; 9 applications related to activities that are not within our competence; 1 application for which we did not find a location according to the applicant's coordinates, and 1 application refers to a location that will be included and cleaned through the annual list of unregulated landfills, of which the applicant was notified.

The project was realized by the companies "Čistoća" and "Deponija" Podgorica, in partnership with the company "Amplitudo" and Montenegrin Telekom, and by investing part of the financial resources it was supported by the Government of the United States of America.

The app is free and available on Google Play and App store platforms, and is designed so that the user, after registration, indicates the location for cleaning and login on the interactive map, with basic information, sends to the relevant services.

Upon receipt and verification, the teams go out on the field and clean the illegally disposed waste, and send a notification to the applicant with a photograph of the cleaned location. The time required to complete and respond to the application depends on the type of application, but is usually no longer than 2 to 3 days from the date of application.

The app also gives legal entities the possibility to register and submit an application - a request for a contract for free disposal of packaging waste, with a reminder that "Čistoća" even before the app launched concluded contracts for free disposal of packaging waste with a large number of entities, which significantly affects the adequate waste management in the area of the Capital and the separately collected quantities of these types of waste are growing from year to year.

The aim of the application to improve the efficiency of city services in the field of waste management and open the possibility of better and more efficient communication with citizens in the field of improving the state of the environment in this area.

The application will significantly facilitate the work of the Society in waste management, and at the same time enable citizens to get involved in the system, and at the same time innovatively solve the problem of environmental protection.
