February in Cultural Centre: Diversity of art forms

About twenty various artistic contents Heart of the City Culture will be prepared during February, according to the valid recommendations of the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro and the Commission for the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases. On the stages of Cultural and Information Centre KIC, the audience will have the opportunity to watch the premiere of the co-production of KIC and Zahumlje "Counter-evolution", two thematic film cycles, several concerts, and we will also organize three promotions of literary works and several exhibitions. February is the month in which KIC’s Young Writers Forum will celebrate its 6th birthday.


The film program of KIC, traditionally in February, through the review "Theater on Film", will present film works based on representative theater pieces. This year, from February 8 to 10, the audience will be able to see: "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (1999), The Visit (1964) and “My Cousin Rachel” (1952). We will also show the most prestigious romantic films in the fifth revue "Love on Film", so from 22 to 24 February the repertoire will include: "500 Days of Summer" (2009), "Song Number One" (2014) and "50 First kisses” (2004).


The music program of KIC within the concert cycle "Young Talents" will organize the first all-night concert in Podgorica by Anđela Spaić (soprano) where she will perform arias from operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Vincenzo Bellini, Giacomo Puccini, Gaetano Donizetti, and others in collaboration with the accompanist Marija Barović. The Seventh Festival of Contemporary Piano Music "Forte piano" will be held in KIC on February 25 and 26. This year's theme of the festival is "Children's Corner", and it focuses on the composer's relationship to the children's world. The program includes works by Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Alfred Casella, Nicolas Economou, George Kurtag, Chick Coria, Sofia Gubajdulina, Vladimir Mesika, Milica Vujadinović, and others. The performers are pupils and students, as well as pianists Darja Samofalova, Marija Mitrović and Bojan Martinović.


The informative-educational program of KIC will mark the six years since the founding of the Forum of Young Writers of KIC with a project - video poetry in an online format. The "Song of the Day" by Jane Radičević, Nikola Ćorac, Barbara Delać, Nataša Gudelj, Milena Radević, Luka Boljević, Jovan Jokić, Andjela Bulajić and Jelena Čavić will be shown on the platforms of social networks from February 17.


KIC's cycle "Contemporary Montenegrin Literature" will continue to present important domestic authors and their works in a creative way, so on February 3, a promotion of the novel "The End of Shift" by Milo Masoničić will be organized.


The Association of Writers and Artists "ZENIT" from Podgorica will promote the collection of poetry for children "Poetry Caravan" on February 15, and on February 18 a new book of poetry by Montenegrin author Zeljko Sekulovic "Tango ulice" will be presented.


The co-production play of the Public Institution "Zahumlje" from Nikšić and KIC "Budo Tomović", "Counterevolution", based on the text and directed by Obrad Nenezić will be premiered on February 11. The play stars: Slavko Kalezić, Jovan Dabović and Đorđe Tatić.


The art program of KIC will affirm creative creativity during the next month, so on February 1, an exhibition of works "Rehabilitation and reintegration - migrants in Montenegro" will be organized in the exhibition hall of KIC, and on February 19, documentary exhibition of photographs "My City in the Age of the Corona" by Dalibor Ševaljević.


We remind you that, respecting the recommendations of the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro in January, we organized a review "Musical - Film Rhapsody", after which an exhibition of works by the Association of Fine Artists from Ulcinj, KIC also marked the International Holocaust Remembrance Day in January and the awarding of annual prizes and recognitions for philanthropy "Iskra". To the satisfaction of theater lovers, we organized the sixth Manifestation of Chamber Play - MAKADO, which lasts until January 31.


According to the decision of the Institute of Public Health, the number of seats is limited (Great Hall up to 50, DODEST Hall up to 30, exhibition hall up to 20 visitors), and hand disinfection, physical distance and wearing protective masks in all public enclosed spaces is mandatory!
