New social service in Podgorica soon; Shelter- temporary accommodation for homeless children
22/02/2021Secretary of the Secretariat for Social Welfare of the Capital Ivan Terzić and Executive Director of the Parents Association Kristina Mihailović signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, whose main goal is to launch a social service Shelter - temporary accommodation for children from the street, through inclusion in the program Classroom companionship.
The budget of the Capital for 2021 allocates funds for the implementation of the social service, which is designed as a special type of support and stimulation for children coming from socially endangered families, as a particularly vulnerable category.
In this way, children are provided with conditions for acquiring basic life skills, improving their educational status and building their competencies. The Children's Classroom program helps children in their education, provides snacks, psycho-social support, organizes creative and educational workshops, as well as transportation to the place of realization of activities (Toy Library and Development Center).
The initiative aims to include street children in educational workshops through the social service Shelter for Street Children, to reduce the transmission of poverty from generation to generation, as well as to provide opportunities for all children to have the same educational opportunities, which directly improves the quality of life of vulnerable categories.
As part of the program supported by the Secretariat for Social Welfare, NGO Parents will implement a weekly program with incentive activities for children in poverty and work on designing, planning and establishing a comprehensive service for shelters for homeless children and improving working conditions, while the Secretariat for Social Welfare, in accordance with its capabilities, will provide the necessary support to achieve the goals of cooperation.
