International Mother Language Day in the National Library "Radosav Ljumović"
22/02/2021International Mother Language Day is celebrated on February 21 around the world. The holiday was created on the initiative of Bangladesh, and as a sign of protests that were held on February 21, 1952, organized by the Bengali Language Movement.
At the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1999, a resolution recognized this holiday.
Understanding the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity in Montenegro, the Public Library "Radosav Ljumović", on Monday, February 22, will mark this date with a program in which, through the work of Radovan Zogović, professors of Montenegrin language and literature at the Elementary School "Mahmut Lekić" in Tuzi, Leonora Vulaj and Samir Adžović, will talk about the importance, respect and nurture of their own and other people's languages.
Students of the Elementary School "Sutjeska" from Podgorica and the Elementary School "Mahmut Lekić" from Tuzi will also participate in this interactive program.
The program will be held at the Public Institution National Library "Radosav Ljumović" - Marko Miljanov Hall, on Monday, February 22 at 2:30 p.m., following epidemiological measures.
