Today, the Mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vukovic, PhD, and the Director of the Clinical Center, Jevto Erakovic, reached an agreement with the representatives of the Djurovic and Radojevic families who own the parcel within the Clinical Center, which is the first step towards building the Emergency Unit of the Clinical Center of Montenegro. On that occasion, Mayor Vukovic referred to the challenges with the coronavirus that our health workers are struggling with, and emphasized the importance of building a new Emergency Bloc for Podgorica, but also for the whole of Montenegro.
"We have witnessed the last half year of the heroic struggle of the entire society, primarily our health workers with the coronavirus pandemic. This situation seems to have shown how often the sector is unfairly criticized. We as a society can be proud of those people, which is an incentive for further development of the health system in Montenegro and to make it possible it is necessary for our health workers to create better working conditions. All these results, which are easily measurable and admired by the region and Europe, gain additional significance if we see the conditions in which health workers work. As a responsible local government, we are ready to contribute to this segment as well. The construction of the new building of the Emergency Center is a facility that the Clinical Center, Podgorica and Montenegro have been waiting for many years, which should serve not only the needs of the citizens of Podgorica but the whole of Montenegro ", said Mayor Vuković.
The Government of Montenegro will allocate 15 million euros for the construction of the new Emergency Block, and the Capital has reached an agreement with Đurović and Radojević families on the transfer of ownership in order to vacate the parcel for the construction of the Emergency Block.
"We have solved the problem related to the construction of that block today, and it is about the facility in which two families of our fellow citizens live and where the building should be built. In the past weeks, we had intensive communication with the respected representatives of the Đurović and Radojević families, and thanks to the mediation of director Eraković and his colleagues, we managed to reach an agreement. It is planned that the Capital will transfer ownership to the Đurović and Radojević families to two properties, i.e. two apartments, and thus enable their relocation, i.e. construction of the Emergency Center building, capitally important things for Podgorica and Montenegro", Mayor Vuković announced and on that occasion thanked Đurović and Radojević families for their trust and cooperation, as well as the management of the Clinical Center and the Housing Agency who gave their contribution by resolving property and legal relations on that parcel.
"In the next period, this decision will be on the agenda of the Capital City Assembly, after which formal and legal conditions will be created for its implementation and the construction of a new Emergency block will begin at the beginning of next year," Mayor Vuković concluded.
The director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Jevto Eraković, pointed out that today is a great day for both the Clinical Center and the health system of Montenegro, and that the announcement of the construction of a new Emergency Center would not be possible without the help and support of the Capital. He emphasized that it was necessary to create preconditions for the facility, which is in the private ownership of Đurović and Radojević families, to be relocated and thus enable construction.
"I think it is easy to cooperate with the successful ones and we are glad that the Clinical Center has a partner in the Capital. We are witnessing really great projects that the Capital is implementing and we hope that we in the health system have the same capacity to follow you and to jointly prove that the trust that has been shown to us, has been shown in the right way and that together with government agencies we can improve Podgorica, as well as the health system and our Montenegro," Erakovic pointed out.
I am sure that this is one of the projects that will mean a great thing for future generations to come, for all residents of Montenegro, and in that way we send the message that both the Capital and the Clinical Center and the state of Montenegro have a responsible attitude towards all citizens and that we will continue to implement it through mutual and future projects. This is a capital project that will bring huge benefits to Montenegro", Eraković concluded.
Representatives of Đurović and Radojević families who own the facilities within the Clinical Center thanked the Capital and the management of the Clinical Center for their understanding and effort in solving the decade-long problem, and that they will provide their families with a better quality of life in the future but at the same time make preconditions for the construction of new facilities for the needs of the health system of Montenegro.
