Reconstruction of the basketball court in Njegošev park completed; A new look of a notable place of Podgorica’s sport

Today, the mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vukovic, PhD, with his associates, visited the completed works on the reconstruction of the field in Njegosev Park, the place where generations of basketball players of the basketball club Budućnost grew up. The total value of works on the reconstruction of the terrain and the adaptation of the associated facilities is over € 60,000.

Mayor Vuković pointed out that the notable basketball court in Njegošev park today looks completely different, to the pride of all the inhabitants of the center of Podgorica and all the people who live in the Capital.

"This is a valuable investment that exceeded € 60,000, which included a thorough reconstruction, change of complete infrastructure, including the installation of a new surface in line with the highest standards in basketball, installation of new lighting and previous adaptation of a small building where several years ago was the headquarter of BC Budućnost", Vuković emphasized.

The mayor also reminded of the recent reconstruction of the Small Sports Stadium, another very important place for the sport of Podgorica.

"After we opened the completely reconstructed Small Sports Stadium about ten days ago, we can say that we have returned another part of that debt to the sports of Podgorica and that we have arranged another notable place for our capital. Today, we are handing it over for use to athletes, primarily the younger generation, in the hope that this glorious tradition of basketball in Podgorica will continue and that, as has been the case in the last fifty years, basketball aces will continue to mature in this place," Vuković concluded. congratulating the management of the company Sportski objekti on a well done job and expressing gratitude to Gavril Pajović for his presence.

The Director of the Sports Facilities of the Capital Vojislav Marković expressed his satisfaction that another important project in the field of sports infrastructure in Podgorica has been successfully realized.

"Sports facilities have successfully completed all the works in the part of equipping all the facilities on this training ground so that they would be in the function of athletes and all recreational athletes who have spent their free time here for a long time," Marković pointed out.

He emphasized that in the future, as in the previous period, sports facilities will make every effort to ensure that this and all other sports facilities are ready for all sports events that will be organized, but also to meet all the needs of clubs and recreationists to successfully implement all training processes.

"We owe a great deal of gratitude in that part to the Capital, which had full understanding for our requirements and provided the necessary funds, and today we can look forward to another sports facility in Podgorica that is in a new spirit and will certainly meet the needs of all athletes and recreationists in our capital" Marković concluded.

Former ace of the Basketball Club Budućnost Gavrilo Pajović pointed out that he was proud that the Capital City recognized the need for the reconstruction of this cult field.

'' It is a pleasure to return to the place where I once spent my childhood and later on the days of a professional play. As a native of Podgorica, I think that this is one of the two two notable places when it comes to Podgorica, next to the field of the Stadium of Small Sports, which is named after my former team mate Goran Poli Bojanić. I feel proud as a citizen that the Capital managed to bring these two places to such a state that they became pride not only of Podgorica but also of Montenegro", concluded Pajović, adding that his mother started in the same place and his uncle participated in a making of Njegoš Park, which makes his satisfaction even greater and he hopes that future generations will spend more and more time in this park.

Podgorica has previously implemented several activities for the adaptation of the facility in Njegošev Park, which include replacement of roofing, replacement of broken doors and windows, adaptation of locker rooms and toilets, adaptation of interiors, installation of tiles, replacement of suspended ceilings, repair of all electrical and plumbing installations, and painting the facade and interior of the entire building. The reconstruction of the basketball court itself referred to the rehabilitation of the stands and the installation of tribune chairs, the rehabilitation of the existing surface on the field, as well as the installation of a new plasticized surface. Also, an evacuation plan was made with the development and installation of evacuation exits on the range.
