Over € 110,000 invested in reconstruction of the polygon in Meše Selimovića Street and on Svetog Petra Cetinjskog Boulevard
16/09/2020The Mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, PhD, with a representative of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, visited today the reconstructed training grounds on the Svetog Petra Cetinjskog Boulevard and in Meše Selimovića Street in Block V.
The Capital city, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Football Association of Montenegro, reconstructed the training ground in Meše Selimovića Street, for which over € 65,000 were set aside. A new asphalt surface was made on the part of the polygon used for basketball, which is a donation from the company Bemax, and after that a new tartan surface was laid thanks to the funds allocated by the Ministry of Sports and Youth. The Football Association of Montenegro provided artificial grass for the field for indoor football. The training ground on Svetog Petra Cetinjskog Boulevard got a modern basketball and basketball court, for which € 45,000 were set aside. Also, the works on the asphalt surface in that part were done by the company Bemax, while the tartan base was donated by the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
On that occasion, Mayor Ivan Vuković, PhD, pointed out that the city services are continuously working to improve the quality of life in all parts of the city, and that sports infrastructure is an indispensable part of that story. During this year, the Capital reconstructed or built 15 polygons.
"Today, we had the opportunity to visit the reconstructed polygons in Block V in Meše Selimovića Street and in the part of the town Preko Morače, more precisely behind the Alpe Bar. We brought the facilities that were in unsatisfactory condition for a long time thanks to the activities of our services, primarily the Housing Agency and the company Putevi, and with the help of the Ministry of Sports and the Football Association of Montenegro, which allocated significant funds for the purchase of tartan base and artificial grasses. At these locations, we got modern sports facilities that will serve professional athletes, recreational athletes and, we hope, to the youngest generations of Podgorica residents. We recently visited the notable polygon behind the Simpo building, which also got a new look", Mayor Vuković said.
The Capital will continue to make significant investments in sports infrastructure even in the upcoming period.
"We do not neglect the rural part of Podgorica either, there are training grounds on Barutani and Pričelje. This is an activity that we will continue with in the next period, because we see that the reactions of our fellow citizens are fantastic and we just want to motivate, especially young generation, to spend as much time as possible doing sports activities. We are extremely pleased that so far over € 200,000 have been invested in the renovation of new infrastructure of this type in Podgorica this year alone and we will continue with these activities until the end of the year", Mayor Vuković sai and thanked the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Football Association Montenegro and the company Bemax on the allocated funds, as well as city services on a dedicated work.
"The Ministry of Sports and Youth continues with the dynamic development of sports infrastructure, which has been one of our main goals from the very beginning. We have particulary proved that today through these two projects, out of a total of 17 that we have done in the Capital in the previous four years", concluded the General Director of the Directorate for Sports, Miloš Lalević.
In order to prevent acts of vandalism, as we have recently witnessed in the area of Stari aerodrom neighborhood, where unscrupulous individuals have stolen sports furniture, our services have intensified lighting at all training grounds. In the summer, it is planned that the lighting will be turned off at 11 p.m., and in the winter at 10 p.m. and in this regard we ask our fellow citizens to respect the house rules and the right to rest of our fellow citizens who live nearby.
The Capital once again appeals to all fellow citizens not to destroy furniture and public areas, but to keep them together, so that they can benefit us and also the future generations.
