European Mobility Week in Podgorica – We protect the health of citizens and the environment

European Mobility Week is celebrated in cities across Europe, through activities that demonstrate a commitment to the promotion of alternative forms of mobility and sustainable urban transport. The theme of this year's campaign is "Zero - Emission Mobility for All", which focuses on the promotion of a bicycle use, mass passenger transport and walking.

On that occasion, the Capital has prepared a large number of activities that are in line with this year's theme. Thus, we will activate the KlikBus application, the use of which will make it easier for the citizens of Podgorica to use regular passenger transport, by enabling real-time monitoring of bus movements, purchase and use of an electronic ticket. The app is free and available for download on the Google Play Store and App Store.

Also, we will set up three bicycle parking lots in front of the institutions of the Capital, with the desire to stimulate citizens and employees to perform their daily trips using this type of transportation.

Celebrating Mobility Week is an opportunity to remind ourselves that by practicing alternative modes of transport we improve health, quality of life and the environment in which we live. However, it is necessary to do it continuously, so we remind you that this year the Capital organized the third cycle of subsidies for the purchase of bicycles and electric scooters within the project "Podgorica on two wheels" through which we supported 800 of our fellow citizens in buying a two - wheeler. We have worked intensively on the improvement of the cycling infrastructure through the connection of the existing bicycle corridors, while improving the safety of all traffic participants by establishing new bicycle paths in Ilije Plamenca Street and Ivana Milutinovića Street.

Also, the Capital has established the first electronic bicycle registry. Please note that by using the site www.mojebiciklo.me it is possible to register bicycles, which reduces the possibility of alienation and encourages the local economy.

Walking, as well as cycling, is an active way of mobility, so in that sense, the Capital has carried out activities to close traffic in Janka Đonovića Street - the road to the Tower, and to close traffic in the street in front of the Gymnasium Slobodan Škerović where reconstruction and recultivation is underway, whereby two green areas will be integrated - the yard of the Gymnasium and a new park, in order to get a green oasis in the heart of Podgorica.

During this year, Podgorica received two electric charging stations and the first taxi service with an electric vehicle fleet. Also, the Electronic Ticket project was started, which enabled citizens to travel related to the use of one bus ticket for all carriers.

The Capital will continue to make efforts to achieve sustainable urban mobility in line with its strategic commitment and thus protect the health of citizens and protect the environment.
