Culture returns to the City Center, art gallery is getting a new look

Works on the adaptation of the Art Gallery, bookstore and cafe in Vučedolska Street are proceeding according to plan, so in a space of 215 square metres, with a thorough and careful adaptation, Podgorica will soon provide adequate exhibition conditions, which will enrich the cultural offer and further revive the City Center.

The teams of the Housing Agency of the Capital have completed the works on the installation of strong and weak currents, covering the walls with plasterboard panels in the planned cafe. Also, the floor treatment of ferro concrete and cement screed, the roof skylight on the exhibition space and the waterproofing and thermal insulation on the flat roof of the exhibition space have been completed. Works are underway on installation of thermotechnics, adaptation of the planned sanitary facilities, carpentry work in the interior of the space, locksmith work on the facade openings, painting and others in order to put the space into operation in accordance with the projected purpose.

We remind you that the adaptation project is performed in accordance with all standards of gallery activities, with the application of modern solutions of interior architecture. After the adaptation and furnishing of this unique space, a complete and well-thought-out program with a focus on contemporary art will begin. In addition to the exhibition space, as an accompanying segment, the Art Cafeteria is being launched as an additional space for meetings and cultural exchanges.

Through the adaptation of this space for art, conditions are created for the creation of a new program scheme. The program concept will be focused on contemporary art and new art technologies, and in addition to presenting the work of Montenegrin artists, it will significantly focus on art scenes in the region and Europe, interdisciplinary projects, workshops, research and new models of presentation and reception of art. The program will be designed on the basis of professional selections and through the cooperation of the program team, and will be realized through numerous, already confirmed partnerships with galleries, institutions and cultural actors from the country and abroad.
