Cultural summer of Podgorica completed; Despite the number of challenges, this year's edition is a great success for a culture of the Capital

Traditional manifestation, Cultural Summer of Podgorica, ended last night with the concert of Betovenova pisma of the ARS Quartet in the courtyard of the Risto Stijović gallery.

This year's twenty-first edition of the Cultural Summer of Podgorica began on June 15, and in more than the past eighty days, visitors were shown a rich and varied program.

The significance of this traditional manifestation for the Capital is very great, so although in significantly changed circumstances caused by the coronavirus epidemic, the cultural offer of the city was still available to the citizens and visitors of Podgorica.

Over 60 successful, high-quality and extremely well-received programs in the field of music, literature, film, drama, fine arts, alternative arts and multimedia were realized, which were presented to the audience. In addition to all the usual criteria, this year special attention was paid to the issue of safety of all citizens and participants in the Cultural Summer of Podgorica program, and all programs and events were held in strict adherence to the prescribed NKT measures.

One of the signatures of this Podgorica’s summer is certainly the number of programs that have been realized in public areas. By organizing outdoor programs, we revived numerous scenes and put them into the functions of a small summer stages. In addition to already recognizable locations, programs were organized in Gorica, Pobrežje, in Kraljev park, on the plateau near Sveti Petar Cetinjski monument, in the amphitheater near Moskovski Bridge, in the yard of the House of Stojanović in Masline, on Barutani…In this way, culture has become even more accessible and closer to the citizens of Podgorica, which is one of the basic missions and guidelines of the city's cultural policy.

We remind you that the event began on June 15, with four music programs by students and professors of the Art School of Music and Ballet Vasa Pavić, with an impressive evening concert of the Big Bend Ustanove, on the terrace of the City Parliament, while the curtain on the event was being lowered with the exceptional program, the concert of Betovenova pisma, ensemble "Ars-Industria", organized in the unique ambience of the courtyard of the Gallery Risto Stijović. Between these two dates, in the condensed calendar of activities this summer, a large number of programs were realized in cooperation with Podgorica's music schools and prominent music creators. According to the health situation, the emphasis was on a more reduced forms. The concert of the duo, Srđan Bulatović and Darko Nikčević, accompanied by a chamber orchestra, organized as part of the reconstructed memorial complex on Barutana, on the occasion of Statehood Day on July 13, is a unique cultural program that marked the Podgorica Cultural Summer.

According to the established practice, numerous literary promotions were organized in the area between the buildings of the library Radosav Ljumović and the City Parliament, while the first literary contents were realized in the yard of the House of Stojanović in Masline, where numerous cultural programs will be realized in the future.

This year as well, children's plays were an indispensable part of the program, which are traditionally realized in the Music Chapel in Kruševac, with a great response and satisfaction of the youngest audience.

The art program of the event was marked by exhibitions held in the Modern Gallery, the hall of KIC Budo Tomović, Gallery Risto Stijović, and within a series of this year's exhibitions in the center of Podgorica, the program "City of the Balkans" was realized: spaces, paintings, memories on postcards which is the result of exceptional cooperation between the Embassy of Bulgaria and the Capital city, organized as a part of September 17 – Days of Sofia.

With the financial and logistical support of the Capital city, this year as well, as a segment of the Cultural Summer of Podgorica were realized festivals by which the Podgorica’s cultural scene is recognizable: Underhill, FIAT, Party Bus, Made in New York Jazz Festival.

All of the above testifies that the cultural scene in Podgorica during the summer was extremely lively, dynamic and diverse, and that this edition of the Cultural Summer of Podgorica, despite the enormous challenges, was a great success.
