Competition for a conceptual urban and architectural design for the development of the riverfront of Morača has been announced

Today, Podgorica, the Capital, announced an international competition for the conceptual urban-architectural design for the arrangement of the riverbed and banks of Morača. The aim of the competition is to choose a conceptual design that will best establish the connection between the city and the river, and provide citizens and visitors of Podgorica with a new, unique space for rest and recreation.
The participants in the competition are expected to offer a solution that will, while respecting both the built structures and the specific morphological features of the site, lay the foundations for a new, more interactive relationship between the city and the river. In addition to achieving high ambient values and the attractiveness of the design, it is necessary to provide access to the river for the most diverse groups of users.
In order to actively use the space and improve social contacts, the competition should be enriched with a new adequate content, which will encourage residents and visitors of Podgorica to stay more often by the river.
Special attention should be paid to connecting the shores with park areas in the immediate vicinity, connection with bridges and finally with the urban fabric.
The participants in the competition are left free to propose the arrangement of both shores, only one shore or both shores alternately, based on the conducted analyzes of existing and newly designed contents.
The right to participate in the competition has all natural and legal persons who meet the conditions defined by the Competition announcement and the Competition Task.
The competition will be opened until December 14, 2020.
