Implementation of the project “REopen doors”: Young Roma getting prepared for a work in administration
13/10/2020As part of the implementation of the "REopen Doors" project, a group of young Roma from Podgorica is attending an employment training program implemented in partnership by the Capital of Podgorica and the Montenesoft educational center. The realization of the educational program Montenesoft started in February this year when 30 participants applied for training through which they acquire communication and informatics knowledge and skills, after which the best 10 participants will be invited to a four-month internship in organizational units of the Capital.
We remind you that the project "REopen Doors" is worth a total of about EUR 100,000, and most (90%) is funded by the European Union and Montenegro program for employment, education and eocial welfare (SOPEES), while the remaining 10% is the participation of the Capital. Since the goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of economic, social and cultural integration of the Roma and Egyptian population through employment, the Capital will organize a Roundtable with partners and business representatives in the coming period to present the readiness of training participants for the labor market. The project will also organize a workshop for employees in the Capital on the topic of prejudice and communication barriers in relations with marginalized groups.
Although the training is usually conducted in classrooms, students and teachers held outdoor classes on Friday, October 9. On the shores of Crno jezero (Black Lake), in the National Park "Durmitor", teachers and trainees learned about the protection of natural and cultural heritage of Montenegro, thus addressing the topic of this year's celebration of European Heritage Days - the relationship between heritage and education. Classes held at the foot of the Durmitor peaks were conducted with the aim of learning about the protected natural heritage by experiencing the beauty of that heritage. This introduction to the region, natural and cultural heritage of Montenegro was aimed at helping to understand the values that will encourage the identification of Roma from Montenegro with the society in which they live, along with their true integration.
